About Me

Hi! I’m Michelle.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’re enjoying reading through my blog, my recipes, and my adventures (as well as occasional misadventures) in cooking both healthy and family friendly meals. You will find all sorts of things here – from healthy recipes to comfort food and yummy (not so healthy) desserts. Everything in moderation, right? All of the recipes you’ll find on this blog are “hubby and kid approved” - so even though they’re (mostly) healthy, picky eaters like them too!

About Me
I love few things in life. Here are my top 5 (which actually turned into 8):
Cooking
Eating
Getting my 6 year old to actually like what she eats and hearing her say "I love your cook"
Getting the health conscious hubby to eat food that does not make him feel guilty afterwards
Wine (not the sweet kind)
Yoga
Traveling
Family and friends

I grew up in Monterey, CA with mostly southern food or the creations my grandma and uncle would whip up in the kitchen with whatever we had in the fridge.  My grandma is the reason for my passion for cooking. She always had us (I am the oldest of 4) working in the kitchen, teaching us how to put certain things together. After she passed in 2005, I was and still am determined to perfect some of her recipes and build on others. My mom also inspired us to try a lot of different ethnic foods starting at a very young age, which I appreciate now more than ever. I love all types of food as long as it tastes good!

There aren’t many foods that I don’t like. However, the two things I will NEVER eat are mushrooms and okra. I hate them...with a passion. Since the hubby likes mushrooms, I will sometimes cave and throw big chunks into a recipe so they are easier for me to pick out. If I am making stuffed mushrooms, I usually just eat the filling and give him the mushroom :) Compromise. Other than that, I am willing to try anything once. I do have a soft spot for cheese, bread and artichokes. Mmmmmm....that combo just made me hungry!

I love connecting with fellow foodies or anyone who is interested in learning more about travel, healthy living and flavorful eating. Should you have any questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to leave a comment. I’d love to hear from you!

Enjoy!
